Both teams came out flying to start off the game. Both offenses ran at a fast pace and with some masterful ball handling from both sides, it made for a closely contested contest. However, Notre Dame would use their vision quick ball movement to take the lead. However, St. Sebastian would go on to edge their way back into the game thanks to some fine defensive play. Notre Dame would come out of the first quarter leading 18-8.
Notre Dame would continue their fast paced offense into the second quarter. They were able to make a couple baskets with their first couple of possessions in the quarter to extend their lead to 23-8. St. Sebastian had a couple of good offensive possessions where they were able to move the Notre Dame defense out of position and capitalize on their chances. This cut into the deficit making the score 27-17 in Notre Dame's favor. Although St. Sebastian had alittle bit of a momentum swing at the end of the quarter, Notre Dame was able to finish their chances and went into halftime leading 38-27.
St. Sebastian came out with a sense of resolve in the second half, and moved the ball with a sense of purpose. They slowly inched their way into the game and cut the deficit to 6. Notre Dame would not take this lying down and soon scored a few points of their own. Although there were a few momentum shifts throughout the quarter, St. Sebastian was able to shorten the deficit to 4 points going into the fourth. Notre Dame came out leading 52-48.
St. Sebastian came went into the fourth quarter feeling confident after their third quarter offensive performance. And thanks to a quick 3 and layup, they were able to take the lead. However, Notre Dame would storm back and regain the lead quickly. The game quickly turned into a game of endurance when the lead changed hands more than a few times. After an exciting series events in the last minute of the game, with the lead changing hands 3 times, Notre Dame was able to hit a layup in the final 10 seconds of the game to secure the victory. The final score ended up being 77-74 with both teams completely drained from such a hard fought battle.
