St. Raphael Holds on Against Gilmour

Both teams started off the first period fairly even at 2-2, but St. Raphael began to pull away towards the end of the first period. The Lancers go into the second period trailing behind 2-11. Less than two minutes into the second period and St. Raphael scores 5 more points to bring the score to 2-17. The Lancers begin their comeback nearing the end of the second period. The Lancers are trailing by 8 with a score of 12-20 to guide them into the third period. It’s looking like the Lancers are beginning to chip away at St. Raphael and start to shrink the gap between scores.

To start the third period off, two well executed plays help the Lancers achieve two 2-point shots back-to-back as well as a foul by St. Raphael allows the Lancers to bring the score to 18-24. With just 3 minutes left in the third period, the Lancers have managed to come back to make the score 27-31, but St. Raphael is fighting to keep their lead. Going into the fourth period, the score is 32-36 with St. Raphael still hanging on to the lead. With under 4 minutes left in the fourth period, St. Raphael has managed to achieve a 14-point gap with a score of 35-49. While both teams played a very good game, I believe that the chemistry for St. Raphael was better, leading to their 57-53 win over the Lancers.
