Hawken Ups the Defense, Beats St. Gabe’s 39-27

Hawken beat St. Gabriel in the Morrissey Classic with a final score of 39-27.

Both defensive units from the Hawks and St. Gabriel played lock down defense in the first quarter. St. Gabriel up 3-2 at the end of the first.

Starting off hot in the second quarter St. Gabriel’s number 23, Blake Newman notched a 3 pointer to give St. Gabriel a 4 point lead. However, matching the same energy the Hawks number 4, Malcom Claytor answered back with a 3 pointer. Both teams were hungry for points, with a score of 15-9 going into the third quarter, St. Gabriel leading.

In the second half the Hawks were working hard to extend their lead but St. Gabriel was keeping themselves in the game with good ball movement and communication. The Hawks eventually pulled away leading them to secure a 12 point lead at the end of the fourth quarter.

Hawken Hawks would go to secure a win with a final score of 39-27.
