Holy Trinity Wards Off St. Paschals Comeback Attempt

Holy Trinity earned a well-fought win over St. Paschals in the 4:00 pm game. 

The Knights and the Eagles got off to a collective slow start in the first quarter. All of the offensive action came in the closing seconds of the quarter.

Joey Puletti drilled a corner three to put the Knights ahead 5-2 with under 30 seconds left. Robbie Duray answered right back and tied the game with a three-pointer of his own on the other end of the floor. 

The offenses opened up in the second quarter as the Eagles led 16-11 at the break. Maddux Payne led the Eagles, scoring seven points and grabbing four rebounds in the first half. 

After a strong end to the first half, the Eagles could not carry any momentum into the third quarter. The Knights opened the second half on a 4-0 run before surrendering a layup in the final minute. They trailed 18-15 heading into the fourth quarter. 

A 7-0 run by the Eagles to start the fourth quarter ended the Knights’ winning hopes. The Eagles led 25-15 with 6:17 remaining in the game. 

Puletti and the Knights fought until the final whistle, but ultimately were not able to complete the comeback and fell 31-27 to the Eagles.

Puletti scored a game-high 12 points with two assists. Duray had 10 points and four rebounds for the Eagles.
