St. Raphael is the 2016 Morrissey Classic Champion

The strong defensive presence from St. Raphael set the tone in the eighth girls championship game victory. 

St. Raphael set the tone early on the defensive side of the ball. On the night, the team had XX steals in the game and limited St. Christine to XX in the first half. St. Raphael was led on offensive by Kaylie, who chipped in an impressive nine points and six rebounds and Clare had seven points and eight rebounds. Supplying important work on the boards was Clare who led the team with her eight rebounds. St. Raphael led through all four quarters, including a 19-13 score line at the half. 

St. Christine made an impressive run late in the game, but the come back effort came up just short. With under two minutes to play in regulation, St. Christine trailed by just seven points. Supporting the offensive efforts for the team was Anisah who led the team with 17 points and 20 rebound on the day. Adding onto the offensive performance for St. Christine was Samantha who manufactured three points in the contest. 

St. Raphael would hold off a late come-from-behind effort from St. Christine to finalize the 34-26 final score. With the victory, St. Raphael is crowned the eighth grade girls tournament champions.
