The Emmanuel Christian Academy managed to stave off a Gesu (Cooper) comeback to win against the Bulldogs 65 to 46. Emmanuel Christian dominated the Bulldogs in the first half, outscoring them 37-19 and accumulating 19 1sthalf rebounds, more than Gesu would the entire game. The first half also included a spectacular one handed dunk from the Ram’s #24, Christopher Livingston. Christopher would end the day with an incredible 32 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals.
The deficit did not stop the Bulldogs from coming out strong against the Rams in the second half, bringing the score with 10 by the end of the third quarter. This comeback was lead by Gesu’s #24 Kevin Bradley, whose 11 pts, 3 assists, and 4 steals kept Gesu in the game. His leadership and passing ability as the team’s point man made their scoring run possible, and his defensive play, despite playing at a height deficit, gave new life into his team.
However, this comeback would not come to fruition, as the Rams and Bulldogs traded baskets before strong defensive stands from Emmanuel Christian allowed them to increase their lead. Height in the paint proved to be dagger for Gesu, as the Rams recovered three times as many boards as Gesu, rebounding 36 times over the course of the game to Gesu’s 12. #23 Cordell Livingston, #24 Christopher Livingston, #11 Clinton Thomas were the team’s top rebounders, with 9, 7, and 7 boards respectively.
