Hawkens Hawks beat Holy Trinity in both teams first game of the Morrissey Classic with a final score of 43-41.
Both teams came out hot in the first minutes of the first quarter with back and forth points from Holy Trinity and the Hawkens Hawks. However, Holy Trinity started to pull away with 4 minutes left, until number 22 Tommy Grajzl on the Hawks tallied a 3, resulting in the score of 7-9 going into the second quarter.
During the second quarter both teams were working hard to gain offensive control of the ball. However, the Hawks pulled away in points going into the third quarter making the score 24-16.
Third quarter started off heavy with a 3 pointer from 31, Maddux Payne on Holy Trinity in the first minute of play. Both teams played with a lot of passion throughout, but the Hawks remained on top with a score of 34-28 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter Holy Trinity tied up the game with a 3 pointer from number 1 Robbie Duray with 2 minutes left making the score 39-39 in the fourth quarter. With back and forth points from both of the teams, and seconds left in the game the Hawks took the lead securing a win with a layup from number 22 Tommy Grajzl.
Hawkens Hawks would go to secure a win with a final score of 43-41.
